Water and electric meters are read the 15th of each month. Bills are sent out on the 25th. Payment is due by the 10th of the month. There will be a 10% penalty of all utility charges (excluding sales tax and HSU payback) on all accounts paid after the 10th of the month following billing date.
Residential Low Income Discount - an $8/month discount will be allowed on the meter charge of residential consumers for a period of 12 months from January to December if the consumer provides proof that the family is eligible to receive low income fuel assistance (LIEAP).
Residential or General Service consumers found to be using unmetered water furnished by the City of Groton water system shall be disconnected until a meter is installed by the property owner.
A new remote water meter reading system is being installed. The new meters are read from city hall and readings will be used on the 15th of each month. The project is part of the Obama Stimulus project.
The city gets its supply of water from the WEB Water facility located 100 miles west of Groton near Selby. The water source is the Missouri River. Groton has a 450,000 gallon reservoir in addition to the 80,000 gallon tower. The average daily use is about 125,000 gallons.
HWH Rebate: Receipts for new Lifetime Warranty Hot Water Heaters that are 50 gallons or more can be submitted to City Hall for a $6/gallon rebate. Rebate will be issued once the unit is checked for Load Management Control.
