The 2025 Street Chip Seal Project will begin August 18th and continue into the week, if weather cooperates. Please move your vehicles, campers, etc. if they are in the affected areas


Starting today, August 12th and continuing approximately a week and a half, the City of Groton will be cleaning and videoing sewer lines in the center of town. The map indicates what lines will be done. If your house is not vented properly there could be some sewer backup. Please put your toilet seat down. If you smell sewer gas, be sure to run water down your traps.

The City Of Groton plans to conduct adult mosquito control tonight, Wednesday, August 6th starting at approximately 8:45 PM. In the event of inclement weather another attempt will be made Thursday night.


The City of Groton is accepting sealed bids for two surplus vehicles: a 1982 International S1900 Dump Truck and a 2017 Ford Interceptor SUV. Sealed bids are due to City Hall by August 5, 2025, by 5pm and will be opened that same evening during the council meeting at 7pm.
Note: The 2017 Ford Interceptor SUV will have all accessories and decals removed. In addition, the vehicle does have mechanical problems.

Heartland Waste Management has noticed an increased amount of bagged grass clippings in residential garbage cans during their weekly routes. As a reminder, grass clippings are NOT to be disposed of in your weekly garbage.

In celebration of Independence Day, we kindly remind all residents to adhere to the City of Groton’s ordinances concerning fireworks.
6-4-2 Fireworks. It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, keep for sale,
or offer for sale to any person in the City of Groton any firecrackers, Roman
Candles, rockets, or other fireworks or explosives from which firecrackers,
blank cartridges, or other fireworks may be made or manufactured.
Fireworks shall be defined as those fireworks classified by the US
Department of Transportation as Class C (Common) Fireworks (C.F.R. Title
49 - Transportation, Part 173.100 (r)) effective on January 1, 1983,
including but not limited to those fireworks designed primarily to produce
visible effects by combustion, that must comply with the construction,
chemical composition, and label regulations promulgated by the US
Consumer Products Safety Commission (C.F.R. Title 16 -Commercial
Practices, Part 1507), effective on January 1, 1983.
No person shall discharge or shoot any fireworks or firecrackers of any kind,
within the City of Groton. Public display of fireworks is permitted at any time
with the written consent of the City Council.
