Members of the area met mid-March to discuss economic development in the Groton SD Community. The last of 3 core team sessions will be held April 18th at 7pm at City Hall. From this core team, 6 members will be chosen to serve on the Groton Development Corporation. Individuals are encouraged to reach out to City Hall at 605-397-8422 if they would like to join this process.


The City of Groton is currently accepting applications for a full-time Public Works Laborer. Applicants must be a United States citizen, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, and possess a valid driver's license. Applicants must be able to acquire a commercial driver's license and the necessary water and wastewater certifications within one (1) year of employment.
Benefits package includes medical insurance, life insurance, and South Dakota Retirement. Starting wage is DOE.

The Groton City Council has hired Mike Olson with OCCS to begin code enforcement services. Next week, he will be traveling in a grey/silver GMC Acadia recording these violations, so if you see him in your area, do not be alarmed.


PUBLIC NOTICE TO GROTON PROPERTY OWNERS
Notice is hereby given that City Council, sitting as the Local Board of Equalization, will meet at City Hall, 120 N Main Street, Groton, SD, for the purpose of reviewing, correcting and equalizing the assessment of property on March 19, 2024, at 8:00 pm, following the regular council meeting.
Appeals must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation by 5:00pm Thursday, March 14th at City Hall or mail appeals to the Finance Officer, PO Box 587 Groton, South Dakota. Those appealing will be notified of their scheduled time to meet with the Board. Contact City Hall for more information at 605-397-8422.

The City of Groton will be hosting the 2024 District 6 Meeting next month at the Groton Legion. McPherson, Edmunds, Faulk, Brown and Spink counties will all be represented at our meeting. We would like to showcase our city with 5-10 door prizes. If you are a business or organization that would like donate items to our event, please contact City Hall.
